The Housing Connection – Transitional Housing Project
The Housing Connection (THC) supports people with an intellectual disability to live meaningful and inclusive lives in the homes and communities of their choice. THC’sTransitional Housing Project aims to provide additional accommodation for people with a disability and/or their families in crisis or in need of respite and for those looking to transition from the family home into their own place.
Architects Tanner Kibble Denton and professional services firm Arup are working with THC to develop a concept design for the new accommodation and facilities, support the development approval process and prepare construction documentation for additional accommodation at their project site in Chatswood, NSW.
Project Outcomes and Benefits
The design and documentation developed in this project will enable THC to proceed with the construction of additional accommodation on their existing site which will allow them to support more members in their community. This additional housing could ultimately provide people with a disability and their families with flexible accommodation, support from a multi-skilled team of staff, assistance with maintaining independent living skills, access to an internal community and opportunities for shared activities.
The project has commenced, with concept design phase nearly complete.
