Project Background

Edgar’s Mission seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and animals. They offer sanctuary to farm animals in need.  Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary is set on 153 peaceable acres situated just outside of Lancefield, nestled in the tranquillity of the Macedon Ranges.They have recently relocated to this new location and are keen to recommence their education programs and tours.

Project Overview

Aurecon is working with Edgar’s Mission to improve amenities and infrastructure that is suitable for visitors and animal care at their new farm sanctuary in Lancefield, Victoria. The nature of this support includes design concepts, engineering services and cost estimates for anew shed, visitor area and education space.Concept and detailed design services are being provided pro bono by Melbourne architecture firm, NH Architecture.

Project Outcomes and Benefits

The project aims to deliver a developed concept, architectural and engineering documentationand cost estimates for Edgar’s Mission to undertake fundraising, planning and construction of facilities.  Improved amenity and facilities will:● Enhance the experience and educational outcomes for the thousands of visitors to the sanctuary each year

  • Provide a space for sheep shearing and other animal husbandry needs
  • Provide a service to the community in saving abandoned or abused animals
  • House an emergency and distribution centre for the region, and
  • Enable Edgar’s Mission to explore further opportunities to expand their current programs that are working with disadvantaged groups.
